Grading System:
Tests - 50%
Quizzes - 25% to 30%
Daily assignments and Journals - 15% to 20%
Activities and Projects - 0% to 10%
Grading Points:
> Tests - 100 points each
* Students may retake tests during the semester (no initial limit).
* Students must take the retake test BEFORE the next scheduled chapter test (or have made arrangements with me ahead of time).
* The student will not be able to raise a test score more than 30 points from the original test grade.
* The last test taken over a unit will be used as the final grade, even if it is lower than the first test.
> Quizzes - 10 points each
* Students may retake quizzes (and take the better grade).
- - However, the retake must be within one or two weeks of the initial quiz date.
> Daily work - 5 to 10 points each.
* Students will have two types of homework, daily practice problems, and assigned problems to be graded.
* Assigned problems will be turned in every few days, and will be similar to the daily practice problems they were given.
* Students may do a make-up assignment to improve low homework grades within one week of the date that paper was initially returned to them.
*Students must complete all assignments. Late papers will be accepted, but a penalty will be assessed. Students will NOT be allowed to take the easy ZERO for a skipped assignment.
> I require assignments to have the student's name at the top, any spiral edges to be cut off, and all assignments on the page identified by page.
> I require the use of pencil on all assignments and assessments turned in to be graded. Notes should also be done in pencil.
I am including some journaling as part of my math curriculum. I hope to get the kids thinking about what they are doing in the math class by making them put some of the concepts into paragraphs.
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
> Respectful and polite behavior is expected of all students. Discipline will follow due process guidelines of the student handbook and the PIPSS policy. Harrassment and bullying will NOT be tolerated in my presence.
TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER SCHOOL PROPERTY
> Textbooks will be returned with reasonable wear. Excessive wear, damage, or loss of materials will result in a fine to cover the cost of repair or replacement. Misfacing school property will not be tolerated. If you cannot repair the damaged item, you will be fined to cover the cost.
MAKEUP WORK
> Makeup work is the responsibility of the student. Assignments should be available on Mrs. Lindgren's Webpage. In general, two days are allowed for each day of absence. Tests must be made up outside of class time unless arrangements have been made with Mrs. Lindgren.
