The study of the structure and function
of the body's systems and the interrelation of these systems is helpful
to anyone who is curious about the human body or to anyone who has a
desire to work in a health related field. In this class, these concepts
will be reinforced through the use of the text, The Human Body,
classroom discussion, activities, and films.
Students will discuss the systems, their structures, and the mechanics
behind the body systems in an informal method. Presentation software
will be used to project class notes. Periodic quizzes and test will
chart student progress; daily work will consist of oral review, and
occasional written assignments from the text and from relevant news
articles. Tests will be returned to the teacher after they have
been reviewed.
Students have myelearning accounts and will be responsible for
downloading notes, assignments, and other objective requirements.
Assignments and article reviews will be submitted electronically via
the myelearning software. Individual grades will be available on
a weekly basis; all assignments, quizzes, and tests will be evaluated
and returned in a prompt fashion, usually by the next day.
Student grades will be calculated using the following criteria:
daily assignments 25%
quizzes 25%
tests
50%
No assignments will be accepted unless there is a valid reason
(illness, etc. Forgetfulness or lack of responsibility are not valid
reasons.) Assignments are due at the beginning of the class.
