APPLIED SCIENCE
Grades: 10-12

Prerequisite: None
This
is a general science class for non-college bound students or for
students who are planning a field of study where science is not a
prerequisite. In this class, students delve into some of the problems,
solutions, and impacts that have resulted from the applications of
scientific principles. The topics discussed are, but are not limited
to, bio-related technologies, power technologies, synthetic materials,
ecology, and science in the home and on the farm.
HUMAN ANATOMY/PHYSIOLOGY
Grades: 11-12
Length: Year
Prerequisite: Successful completion of biology, chemistry, or physical science
The
course Human Anatomy/Physiology will deal with understanding the
structure and function of the human body. This course is especially
suited as preparation for students pursuing careers in health-related
fields, as a college-prep course, or as an insightful look at one's own
body. In addition to fairly rigorous terminology used in regard to
structures and processes, diseases and disorders will be addressed.
Students will access class material via myelearning accounts.
GENERAL SCIENCE
Grades: 10-12
Length: Year
Prerequisite: none
Science is pervasive; there is nothing that exists in this universe
that is not governed by the scientific principles. In general science,
some of the principles in the three areas of earth science, physics,
and chemistry. will be covered. Topics included will be the solar
system, its beginnings, and its components; forces of nature; forces
and motion, and basic chemistry. Notes, assignments, and labs will be a
part of the course work, along with periodic quizzes and tests.
BUSINESS MATH
Grades: 11-12
Length: Year
Prerequisite: None
Business Math is a course designed to better prepare students for the
mathematical problems to be encountered upon graduation. A review
of computational skills will accompnay units on personal money records,
buying problems, wages, insurance, taxes, and commisions.
Students will learn the basics of borrowing and saving money, home
ownership, insurance and investments.
