Class News

OVERVIEW: Third grade is a year of change. We change from writing in workbooks, to copying the problems from the textbook onto paper. We will change from manuscript to cursive writing. Hopefully, we change into independent workers. These are good changes as your child grows. 

BIRTHDAYS: Your child is welcomed to bring treats the day of his/her birthday. If your child celebrates his/her birthday in the summer, you may choose to celebrate the half birthday or any day that would work for you. If your child is having a birthday party and not inviting everyone from the class, please do not hand out invitations. It causes hurt feelings. Thanks.  At this time we have 21 students.

ATTENDANCE: If you know your child is going to be absent, please call the office (894-3065) or send a note with a sibling. When your child returns to school make sure he/she has a written excuse. If your child is gone only part of the day, he/she must check in/out at the office.

TARDY: Check in at the office before coming to the classroom.

SPELLING: Homework assignments will be given daily.  If your child gets the assignment completed during the day, that is GREAT!

Monday: Write each word three times.

Tuesday: Write the words in alphabetical order.

Wednesday: Write 5 sentences using at least 6 words in each sentence. One of those six or more words must be from the spelling list. Then write the other words one time.

Thursday: Take a practice test at home. Correct any errors and practice those words 3 times each. Bring test to school.
