Grading Policy

As students are given assignments each day in their respective classes it is expected that they do their assignments in a timely fashion. Assignments should be completed by the next day when the class meets. Students may be asked to redo assignments is I deem it necessary. There are no retakes on quizzes and tests in my classes so it is important to be prepared. Some projects will take longer than overnight so students should make sure they are completed by the due date. If work is not turned in by the assigned time 5 points will be taken away each day from the score. For example if the student achieved a 95% on the paper the grade will drop to a 90% if it is turned in one day late. The score will drop to 85% if the paper is turned in 2 days late and so on.
Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances.

Other items that can cause a student to lose points on an assigned paper:

No Name
Incorrect Heading

Boone Central Middle School has the PIPSS program in place. Students who are late with a paper will have a problem solving session for not completing the task on time. Boone Central uses the program Powergrade for recording our classroom grades. Powergrade is a part of Powerschool, which is Internet based and you can access from anywhere that has the Internet. You need to get your username and password from the school in order to access the information.  Students will be expected to redo some of their assigned work if I deem it necessary. Students are expected to do their own work. If a student is caught cheating they will receive a zero on that assignment and not have the opportunity to do it over.
Math Class:
Students do daily assignments each day. We grade these assignments in class. Students record the assignment on grade sheets that I provide. They are expected to keep these sheets in a folder. After 5 lessons the students average the grades and that grade is recorded as part of their math grade. Exams are given after every 5thlesson and graded by me. Exams are weighted 3 times the value of the average daily grade. Students are expected to keep notes in their math notebook. Also students will be given a brain teaser to answer each week. This will also go in their math notebook. Students may redo their math lessons if they get below and 80% on an assignment. I do not give retakes on tests.

Science Class:

Students will be graded on participation, written assignments, vocabulary tests, and Chapter tests. Students will be expected to keep a science notebook that will have notes and also used to record data from science activities. I will take a science notebook grade at least once a quarter. Students may redo assignments if they get below an 80%. I do not give retakes on tests.

Quiz Star: 6th grade students will be given two math quizzes per month and science quizzes as the chapters are completed. 7th grade math students will be given one quiz per month. Students are given a user name and password that they must use to log on. Students will be given approximately one month to complete the quizzes. They can do the quizzes on any computer that has Internet access. Students may take the quizzes up to 5 times and will receive the highest grade they achieve. Students will receive a zero if the quizzes are not completed by the deadline.

Be Prepared:   Students need to bring their materials to class each day. Students should have their textbooks, notebooks, pencil, pen, paper for assignments. These materials need to be their at the beginning of class each day.
