About
1. Attendance--17 points per quarter
a. Absence
- 3 excused absences are allowed per quarter with no deduction in attendance points.
- 5 pts per unexcused absence and for excused absences after the first 3 in a quarter . When an excused absences is made up by completing a makeup unit (see below), points are restored. The makeup sessions are scheduled as needed. Allowances will be made for extended absences. White-slipped absences should be made up prior to the absence if at all possible.
- If there is no activity (due to written testing, etc) the day that a student misses, the teacher may elect to have the student do the same thing (i.e. makeup the test, view a video, practice CPR, etc.) that they missed. This may be done at a time agreed upon with the teacher (before or after school). The student , then would not be expected to do other make-up for that absence unless unless there was also some physical activity on the day missed.
- Unexcused absences may not be made up
- Students who are on in or out of school suspension are expected to begin their make up for their absence within one week of their return to class and are expected to complete their make up in no more than the number of days that they were suspended.
- Absences due to participation in school sponsored athletic competition do not need to be made up. This applies only to those who suit up for the event.
b. Failure to dress out--5 pts per occurrence. (inc. non participation due to unsafe shoes --ex. sandles.)
- Only the 1st may be made up as a make-up sessions scheduled and then points restored
- Parent notification sent home after each occurrence.
- Subsequent occurrences may not be made up.
c. Tardy to class
- Students are expected to be in locker room by tardy bell and in attendance lines within 4 minutes of tardy bell (dress out days) ready for activity.
- 1 pt will be deducted per tardy (must be made up after three and then points are restored). The first 3 tardies are made up with one make up unit. Subsequent tardies are made up by completing a makeup unit for each one. The policy for excessive tardiness is the same as found in the student handbook.
- Not having the proper shirt, socks, or shoes on are counted the same as tardies.
d. Make Up Sessions
- Students may complete as many makeup units as time allows during each makeup session.
- Make up session dates, times and locations are scheduled periodically as needed and are posted in the locker rooms and in the gyms.
- a 10 minute jog equals one make up.
- a 15 minute power walk equals one make up.
