Advanced Biology
Pre-requisites: Successful completion of Biology and Physical Science
This class is designed for those students that are planning to attend a four-year college following high school. It is expected that students have mastered the main concepts taught in biology. The content and the pace of the course could be considered fairly rigorous. There is a great deal of independent reading, writing, and problem solving. It is designed for those students that are serious about their studies in high school. The laboratory situations call for a great deal of independence and self-motivation. Therefore, a great deal of maturity and self-discipline are required for successful completion of this course. Students meeting the requirements may choose to take this class for college credit.

Class Requirements
Tests - will be given regularly throughout the year - student will know in advanced.
Quizzes - can be given at any time with or without notice.
Daily Assignments - will be given on a regular basis. Some will be written and others reading. It is very important that students complete daily assignments.
Lab Activities - will be performed regularly. Some will have formal lab write-ups, others will have informal write-ups.
Notebooks - All students will maintain a neat and organized notebook.
Independent projects - students will be involved with various independent projects during this class.
Keys to Success
- Don't get behind - once you get behind it is difficult to catch up. Use class time wisely and do homework when assigned.
- Keep organized - Use your notebook! Mr. Osborn will help you get your notebook started. Keep it organized after that.
- Listen to instructions - Pay attention in class so you know what is going on.
- Ask for help - If you need help - ask! You may have to come in before or after school as there is only so much time during class.
- Read carefully - Read and re-read so that you understand
- Actively participate in class - Be involved in the class activity.
- Review for tests and quizzes - periodically in the days leading up to a test/quiz.
