Notebook Requirements

Biology Notebook
Objectives:
- Enhance the organizational skills of the students.
- To share responsibility for learning with the students. (They come to class prepared and ready to work)
- To improve efficiency of class time so that real science learning can take place. Less time wasted looking for lost or missing things!
Requirements:
- All students will keep a notebook exclusively for biology class.
- The notebook will be at least a 1" binder type notebook with dividers and loose-leaf notebook paper.
- The notebook will be brought to class each and every day. (You may not go to your locker to get it!)
- The notebook will be divided into sections as described below.
- Special handouts - handouts you will keep all year.
- Current outlines - outlines covering the topic we are currently going over.
- Current activities - activities we are working on.
- Current assignments - assignments you are currently working on that are not an outline or activity
- Graded Stuff - assignments/quizzes etc. that have been graded and returned to you (other than outlines and activities)
- Absence forms - forms that you complete when absence from class.
Grading:
The notebook will periodically be graded on the following criteria:
- Neatness - The entire notebook must be neat (inside and out). This means free of doodles, obscenities, graffiti, etc.
- Organization - The notebook must be organized with dividers as described above. Items are in the right place and easy to find!
- Content - The notebook must contain the materials it is supposed to contain. Outlines, activities, graded things, attendance forms and special handouts.
