Sketch Book Assignments for Introduction to Art
Two sketches will be due at the end of each week. (Instructor discretion) I have given you a point of departure for developing ideas for future projects. Sketches are to be in a finished drawing. It should be ready for display.

Grade Outline for Intro to Art

Individual Grading Components Percent

Studio Projects -These are weekly projects assigned over the semester that will cover a wide range of mediums. The longer the project, the more weight is given toward your grade. Test Grades are given under this category.
Projects this semester will include - 40%
Elements and principles
Basic drawing studies

pencil drawing
charcoal drawing
ink /wash drawing
perspective drawing
grid transfer
face / figure study
pastel drawing

Acrylic/ Oil Painting

color theory study
monochromatic study
glazing

Art History

History of the Louvre and artist
Modern Art

9 weeks 2-D
Weekly Art History short
9 weeks 3D - Design

basic clay construction
intro to the pottery wheel
clay sculpture design
pewter casting

Sketch book - 20%
Two sketches will be due each week to help with developing ideas. Students are encouraged to work on their sketch book at home to provide for more time to work on studio projects. Sketchbooks will be graded based on individual improvement and creativity.
All Sketchbooks need to be handed in on time!!

Class Participation - 40%
Students will receive a daily class participation grade based on the following criteria. Being to class on time and working diligently on your art assignments for 40 minutes then spending ten minutes cleaning up after yourself will earn you 10 points. (50 points per week on average)
Clean up of work area and placing materials and tools back in storage.
The sink is used by everyone so it is the whole class that needs to make sure it gets cleaned out every day!!!
All work needs to be in on time to receive full credit. __________________________
