CLASSROOM INFORMATION

Grading Scale-3rd graders will receive the following grading scale:

A=93-100%
B=86-93%
C=78-85%
D=70-77%
I=incomplete

Homework Book-I do use the homework book a lot for communication on behavior and homework or just reminders. Be sure to monitor the books-not with just a signature, but use it as a double checking device for your child to see that they have not forgotten something.

Discipline with Purpose-St. Michael's School uses Discipline with Purpose to help the students become self disciplined by teaching them 15 skills that even adults work on daily. The 3rd grade discipline plan is as follows:

1st infraction: Verbal reminder from the teacher that a skill, rule or procedure has been broken.
2nd infraction: Student is given a yellow "warning" ticket. This ticket remains on the student's desk to warn them of the broken procedure.
3rd infraction: Student is given a STOP AND THINK card. The student fills out this card and explains what procedures and skills were broken and how the problem could be fixed. The card will be sent home for a parent's signature and should be returned the next day.

If three STOP AND THINK cards are accumulated throughout one day, notification will be sent home and a detention will be served the following day either before or after school for thirty minutes.

Birthdays-Birthdays are a welcome celebration in our room! If you would like to send treats to school, please do so. If your son or daughter has a summertime birthday and would like to celebrate their half birthday during the school year, treats are welcome then too.

Book Orders -We try to send book orders home monthly. Please make the checks payable to me. I will send a check for the entire order.

Thursday Folders-The Thursday Folders are sent home on Thursdays or the last day of the week. Please be sure to look through any of your student's work and sign the front of the folder.

Classroom Holiday Parties-I have divided the parents into 3 groups to help with the holiday parties. Party dates are subject to change as the school year goes by. I will let parents know changes in dates and times. The people on the committee may decide what they want to bring to the party. Things to think about: games, drinks, snacks, napkins, plates, or music. Party times will be 60 to 75 minutes before dismissal.
