FOURTH GRADE CLASSROOM

4th grade schedule

Book It- 2007-2008

Read 400 minutes each month and return your monthly calendar with your name on it and a parent's signature when you have finished reading. You will also need to do the following activity for each month of Book It. All students who meet the reading goal for 5 of the 6 months of Book It will recieve an extra recess and treat at the end of the program.

October-find six words that were unfamiliar to you until you read the book and define them using drawings and definitions. I will give you paper for this so let me know when you are ready.

November-Give a 2-3 minute oral report on one of the books that you have read or are reading this month. Let me know when you are ready to give your report.

December-Write a 2-3 paragraph summary about one of the books that you read. Include the main characters, setting, plot, and conclusion.

January-Make a poster urging the rest of the class to read a favorite book that you read this month. I will give you poster paper for this.

February- Chose a book that you have read this month and write one fact and one opinion about it.

March- Research something such as a place contained in a book you have read. You may use the Internet, encyclopedias, etc. Bring a diagram, picture, or short report detailing what you have learned.
