STUDENT COUNCIL

St. Michael's Student Council includes all the students at St. Michael's School led by the eighth grade students and sponsored by Mrs. Lisa Schumacher.

SPIRIT DAYS FOR THE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR:
September 14: Rock Star/Celebrity Day
November 16: Gender Bender Day -girls dress like boys and boys dress like girls.
March 14: Blackout Day
May 9: Nerd Day
Spirit Day winners are selected by the eighth grade students. Winners receive a candy bar.

FOOD WAR:
St. Michael's Student Council held a Food Pantry War to help stock the local food pantry. Students raised over 1100 pounds of food and supplies for the pantry! The winning class, 7th grade, earned a casual day every Thursday in November by bringing in 17.4 pounds per person! Student Council says "great job" to all St. Mike's families for supporting the pantry.

RED RIBBON WEEK:
St. Michael's Student Council planned a variety of activities to observe Red Ribbon Week from October 22-26. On Monday, students received candy packs to encourage discussion on remaining drug free. Tuesday's slogans were "Put a cap on drugs" and "Tie one on against Drugs" and students were allowed to wear hats and ties throughout the day. Thursday, students wore socks or slippers to help them remember to "Sock it to drugs" and "Give drugs the slip." Balloons filled with a drug free message were released on Friday. Students also handprinted a pledge to stay drug free and watched a video during the week.

COMING THIS SPRING: PENNY WARS
This spring, Student Council will be holding a Penny War. So,start saving those pennies NOW! For every penny that a student puts into their own classroom jar, another class may deposit silver or dollar bills to subtract that amount. The class with the highest "penny profit" wins!
